Whenever we travel out of the country, we normally stay at cheap hotels or Airbnbs. We chose to stay at cheap places during out of the country travels as it does not make sense to be paying a lot of money since we just sleep and rest at the accommodations. Our recent Singapore travel was an exemption. We stayed at D’Resort at Downtown at Singapore.
D’Resort at Downtown is a family destination at Singapore. It is located at Pasir Ris area, close to Changi Airport. It is a staycation resort at Singapore with a waterpark: Wild, Wild, Wet.
We booked the Rainforest Room via Klook. The room has a 25 sqm floor area and a queen size bed. The room advertised is already huge by Singapore standard.
We arrived at Changi Airport early in the morning. We decided to stay at Changi until the 8am so we can purchase the Singapore Tourist Pass. After buying the tourist pass, we went to D’Resort at Downtown to leave our luggage.
Check-in time of D’Resort is at 3pm. We arrived at 10am and was advised that we can check-in at 12pm after checking our passports. We did not avail of this good gesture as we were so excited to go to the Formula 1 Singapore Grand Prix already. We just informed them that we will be checking in around midnight, after we enjoyed the event. We left our luggage and off we go.
We arrived back at D’Resort after the Formula 1 Singapore Grand Prix around 1am the next day. Check-in was quick and we were surprised that we were upgraded from Rainforest Room to Mangrove Walk room.
Mangrove Walk room has a 33sqm floor area and two queen size bed. It has a balcony with a nice view. Room comes with LED television, refrigerator (not personal or mini ref), open closet, coffee-making facilities (which we were refilled daily together with bottled water), and a work desk. Bathroom has basic toiletries and bath towels were provided. We were so happy with the upgrade!
We stayed for three nights at D’Resort. Though we love the resort hotel, we were quite tired of the travel. D’Resort is located at Pasir Ris area, a place close to Changi Airport. Going to the city, we needed to allot more than an hour of travel time, whereas if we stayed close to the city, 30 minutes would have been enough.
It is fairly easy to go to D’Resort. Pasir Ris MRT and Bus Interchange is just 5 minutes away from Downtown Mall, which is where D’Resort is closely located. There is a bus stop near Downtown Mall and so transportation is easy. However, D’Resort is a HUGE place. Once alighting from the bus, I estimated 15-20 minutes’ walk from the bus stop to D’Resort lobby. That is a loooong walk indeed!
Would I recommend D’Resort? Yes, I would. But you have to be prepared for the additional travel time and be prepared to be walking long distance. We would definitely stay at D’Resort once we go back to Singapore, but maybe for just one night and would definitely try the Wild, Wild, Wet.
